asked the Minister for Justice the commodities and services the prices of which are controlled or regulated by him under any enactment, any instrument made thereunder or in discharge of any statutory duty.

The Minister for Justice is not responsible for controlling or regulating the price of any commodity. However, he has responsibility for the control or regulation of the charges that may be made for certain services. Details of these services are contained in a tabular statement, which, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:

Services the charges for which are controlled or regulated by the Minister for Justice under enactments, statutory instruments or in discharge of statutory duty.

Solicitors' costs in:

By Rules made by the respective rule-making authorities, which require the concurrence of the Minister before they can have effect.

(a) contentious business.

(b) non-contentious probate business.

(c) registered conveyancing.

Counsel's fees in Circuit and District Court.

Services provided by the Courts, in Court Offices, by the Land Registry and Registry of Deeds, the Public Record Office and the Censorship of Films Office: Solicitors' costs and Counsel's fees in legal aid cases.

Orders or Regulations made by the Minister with the consent or approval of the Minister for Finance.

Service by summons server of court documents relating to proceedings in the Circuit and District Courts.

By Rules made by the Circuit and District Court Rules Committees, which require the concurrence of the Minister before they can have effect.

Renting of premises.

Rents are not regulated by the Minister, but the rents of certain premises are controlled by the Rent Restrictions Act, 1960, for which the Minister is responsible.
