Vol. 217 No. 8

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Prices.

33.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the commodities and services the prices of which are controlled or regulated by him under any enactment, any instrument made thereunder or in discharge of any statutory duty.

The prices paid to producers for millable wheat and for milk sold for liquid consumption in the Dublin and Cork Sale Districts are regulated by me under statute. Minimum prices for factory purchased pigs are fixed by the Pigs and Bacon Commission subject to my consent.

My Department provides a variety of services for farmers for which charges are made. Some of these charges are prescribed under statute but in the majority of cases they are fixed Departmentally. Further particulars are given in my Department's leaflet "Specially for the Farmer".
