Vol. 217 No. 8

Ceisteanna-Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Native Fuels in Hospitals.

44.

asked the Minister for Health if he will direct local authorities, health authorities and mental hospital authorities to instal boilers and heating systems that will burn native fuels such as coal and turf in all new hospitals and institutions; and if he will direct that such systems be installed in older hospitals and institutions as the existing systems require replacements.

Mr. O'Malley

In accordance with Government policy, the authorities mentioned have been reminded from time to time of the desirability of ensuring that, to the utmost practicable extent, native sources of heat and power will be given preference in all local institutions under their control, and of the need to bear this in mind when new installations or the replacement of existing ones is under consideration.
