Vol. 217 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Egg Production.

34.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is aware that on page 119 of the Department of Agriculture book, Agriculture in the Second Programme for Economic Expansion, it is stated that the target for egg output is an increase of 26 per cent over the output in 1963; and if he will state approximately how much per cent the annual output of ordinary domestic poultry for egg laying purposes is likely to increase by 1970 as compared with 1963.

Taking into account likely improvements in poultry stock, housing and management, it should be possible to achieve the projected increase of 26 per cent in egg output by 1970 with a smaller proportionate increase in the number of ordinary laying fowl.
