Vol. 217 No. 9

Written Answers. - Value of Pound.

56.

asked the Taoiseach by how much the value of the 1932 pound has diminished to the latest date; and by how much the value of the 1957 pound has diminished to the same date.

It is estimated on the basis of the retail price index numbers that at mid-May, 1965, the latest date for which the index number has been calculated, £1 would purchase the same quantum of goods and services at retail prices as would 15s. 6d in the year 1957 and 5s. 6d in the year 1932.
