Vol. 217 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - House Building Industry.

14.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he has yet received any recommendations from the National Building Advisory Council relating to the avoidance of slumps in the house building trade; and, if so, what steps will be taken to ensure a constant supply of houses to meet demands.

The National Building Advisory Council has submitted a report to me on its first survey of the building industry and it is now being studied. I am unable to make any further statement in the matter at present.

No doubt the Minister is aware of the serious difficulties in which the house building industry is at present. In the light of this circumstance, would the Minister expedite consideration of the report in an endeavour to have the recommendations implemented without delay?

It has already been expedited.
