Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Long-Term Loans for Farmers.

150.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will take steps to assist farmers to improve their farms permanently by providing long term loans at substantially reduced interest rates for the reclamation of land and the construction of farm buildings, and that the interest on such loans should not be in excess of the interest payable under Section B of the Land Project Scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department makes available generous grants to assist farmers to improve their land and buildings. These grants have been very popular with farmers and are being widely availed of.
