Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Traffic Report.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is in a position to state when his examination of the report of the traffic consultant on Dublin traffic will be completed; and when his recommendations will be made known to the Dublin Corporation.

It is hoped to arrange at an early date for discussions at official level between the Dublin road authorities and my Department on various issues arising out of this report. These discussions were requested following a meeting of An Coisde Cuspóirí Coiteann of Dublin Corporation at which An Coisde expressed the view that the report should not be considered in detail by the City Council until an indication had been given by me as to whether the report was accepted in principle by me. I am not satisfied that it would be appropriate for me to express approval or disapproval of any aspect of the report until it has been considered by the road authorities concerned and proposals based on such consideration have been submitted to me. I am, however, most anxious to assist the road authorities in every way open to me in this very important matter and I am arranging for the discussions requested as I am satisfied that such discussions will facilitate consideration of the report by the road authorities.
