Vol. 218 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Industry and Commerce Post.

124.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the date upon which the post of Deputy Assistant Secretary to his Department was created; the remuneration attached to the post; and whether there was any increase in the said remuneration since the creation of the post.

A post of Deputy Assistant Secretary was created in my Department on 30th July, 1965. The salary scale attaching to the post is:

Man (unmarried) and Woman:

£2,715×85—3,040.

Married man:

£3,045×95—3,350.

There has been no increase in this salary scale since the post was created.

That is only four months ago. Surely he would not get an increase after four months?

Would he qualify for a status increase?

I am only answering the question the Deputy asked me.

Can the Minister tell us what scale is he on? Is he on the £2,715 scale or the £3,045 scale?

He is married.

So he started on the £3,045 scale.
