Vol. 218 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary School.

43.

asked the Minister for Education whether he is aware of the anxiety felt by the parents of children attending Ballyhurst national school, County Tipperary, at a report that, owing to the poor condition of the school, it is proposed that the children will have to travel to another school a considerable distance away instead of having a new school provided at Ballyhurst; whether in view of the fears of the parents he will state the position in this matter; and if he will meet the wishes of the local people by providing a new school in the area.

Ballyhurst national school is situated less than three miles from four schools in Tipperary town and I am satisfied that it would be more advantageous educationally to convey the small number of children in attendance to the nearby Tipperary town schools. I have communicated my views in this regard to the Manager of the school.

The Minister is getting around to the idea of a parochial school.

I am around to it.

Keep at it.
