Vol. 218 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pay of Nurses.

50.

asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that the rate of pay for nurses throughout the country in the employment of public authorities will be set at a national level.

The Deputy will appreciate that the present rates of remuneration of nursing staff, employed by local health authorities, are the outcome of negotiations between representatives of these authorities and of the staff associations concerned. The standard scales, which I have approved for the various categories of nursing staff, male and female, are applied on a national basis.
