Vol. 218 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Flour Production.

45.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will instruct the Adaptation Committee for the Flour Milling Industry that, in any further rationalisation in flour production, part of the production capacity of the large city-based mills be reduced thereby obviating the necessity to close small mills like those in Enniscorthy, Cahir, etc.

The Adaptation Council for the Flour Milling Industry is an independent body established by the industry itself. I have no statutory control over the council nor have I the power to "instruct" the council as suggested by the Deputy.
