Vol. 218 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Supply of Turkeys.

47.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if, in view of the fact that (a) the Central Statistics Office preliminary estimate of numbers of turkeys last June shows a decrease of 12 per cent compared with June, 1964, and (b) a committee of turkey rearers' representatives in six counties of Leinster submitted to his Department a statement showing that the supply this Christmas is likely to be 14 per cent more than last year, he will state if it is likely that less turkeys will be available for consumption by residents of the Republic this Christmas; and, if so, approximately how much per cent less.

Little change is expected in the numbers of turkeys available for the home market this Christmas as compared with last.
