Vol. 218 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Deportations from Ireland.

35.

asked the Minister for Justice how many persons have been deported from Ireland to England within the past six months.

There is no provision in the law whereby persons born in Great Britain or Northern Ireland can be deported and citizens of "Commonwealth" countries may be deported only in very exceptional circumstances. Other persons, however, who enter the State from Britain without permission may be deported back to Britain and one such person was so deported during the last six months.
