asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the number of people paying income tax, (b) the total amount of money collected in the present year to date, (c) the probable amount of money for the full year, and (d) the amount collected last year.

(a) The number of individuals effectively liable to income tax for the current year will not be available until after the end of the year. For the year 1964-65, the number is estimated at 385,000; (b) and (c) The Budget estimate of the net receipt of income tax for the financial year 1965-66 is £52 million of which £19,197,000 was collected up to 30th September, 1965; and (d) the net receipt of income tax for the financial year 1964-65 was £45,234,000.
