Vol. 218 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Money for Development: Statement by General Manager of Sugar Company.

8.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the statement of the General Manager of Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann alleging that it was necessary for the person in need of money for development to be good at lobbying and extracting as much money as possible from the Exchequer; and whether he will make a statement refuting the implications of these remarks.

My attention has been drawn to the statement referred to. Since, however, I have no responsibility for the views of officials of State-sponsored bodies, even when publicly expressed, I do not feel that it is necessary for me to comment on the statement attributed to the General Manager of Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann, Teo., beyond saying that I do not agree with it.
