asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is satisfied that there is sufficient awareness among shop assistants of the necessity to induce customers to buy Irish-manufactured in preference to foreign goods.

I am informed that as part of the Buy Irish campaign shop assistants are being actively encouraged to promote the sale of Irish goods and that they are being made aware by the National Buy Irish Committee and the various regional committees of the economic and social importance of doing so.
