Vol. 219 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary-Waterford Electricity Supply.

17.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what areas of South Tipperary and West Waterford are still awaiting electric current; what is the up-to-date position regarding the supply of current to each of those areas; and when they will be supplied.

All areas of the country have already had an opportunity of accepting electricity supply under the Rural Electrification Scheme.

As regards the post-development scheme, I am informed by the ESB that work under the post-development scheme has not yet commenced in the following rural areas of South Tipperary and West Waterford:— Marlfield, Powerstown, Kilsheelan, Clogheen, Ballinure, Drangan, Mullinahone, Cloneen, Ballincor, Grangemockler, Dundrum, Anacarty, Golden, Glen of Aherlow, Ballyporeen, Burnport, Ballingarry, Ballinamult, Kilmacthomas, Melleray, Ballyduff, Clashmore, Drumhills, Ardmore, Shandon, Ballymacarbery and Rathgormack.

Six of these areas, namely, Marlfield, Powerstown, Kilsheelan, Clogheen, Ballinamult and Kilmacthomas have been recanvassed. The Board cannot say in which order the remaining areas will be recanvassed but they expect that work under the post-development scheme will be completed in all these areas within two or three years.
