Vol. 219 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Heifer Subsidy Payments.

26.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the amount of money under the heifer scheme which has been paid to Germans and other non-nationals to date; if he will carry out a special check up in relation to the claims made under the scheme by foreigners recently resident in this country; and if he will consider recording such payments in a special register so that an easy investigation can be made in the case of these foreigners should the occasion arise.

The information asked for is not available. The answer to the remainder of the question is "No."

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the total amount paid in bounty under the heifer subsidy scheme in County Limerick; and the number and names of those who have received £100 and over in payments under this scheme.

The total amount paid to 12th November, 1965, was £306,840. The number of herdowners who have received grants of £100 and over is 621. It is not the practice to disclose the names of individual grantees.
