Vol. 219 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laois School Transport.

55.

asked the Minister for Education what is the position in relation to school transport to the national school at Killadooley, Portlaoighise, Laois; if transport will be provided; if so, when; and, if not, why it cannot be provided for the many children who have long distances to travel to this school.

State grants are being paid towards the cost of two transport services for the conveyance to Killadooley national school of children residing in the Kilcoke and Garryduff districts.

An application was made recently to have the service which operates from the Kilcoke area extended to a point nearer to the homes of children from the parish of Rathdowney. My Department is in communication with the manager with regard to such extension.
