Vol. 219 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Purchase of Santry Court.

68.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of Santry Court, County Dublin (1) its area, (2) the date of purchase and the price paid, (3) the date or dates on which the property was sold, (4) the purchase prices, and (5) the average selling price per acre.

Mr. O'Malley

Santry Court estate, which consisted of 222 acres approximately, was bought in 1941 for £19,500. All but 11 acres, viz. 211 acres, was sold in lots, following public auction in July, 1960, for £55,450, or an average selling price of almost £263 per acre.

As to the 11 acres which were not sold, 9¼ acres had been leased, between 1956 and 1959, to the Clonliffe Harriers Athletic Club for a term of 99 years in consideration of a fine of £500 and an annual rent of £170 and a plot of 1¾ acres is still in the hands of the Dublin Health Authority. The sale of a dwelling house on this last mentioned plot is being negotiated at present and most of the rest of the plot is earmarked for disposal to the county council for road-widening purposes.
