I understand from Dublin Corporation that the total revenue paid to the corporation from 1st April, 1949, to 31st December, 1965, by exporters in respect of all cattle, sheep and lambs killed and dressed at the Corporation Abattoir for the export trade was £178,635. Particulars of the revenue for the period from 1st April, 1943, to 1st April, 1949, are not available in the form required.
The total revenue received by the corporation for the killing and dressing of cattle, sheep and lambs at the Abattoir for both the local and export trade from 1st April, 1943, to 31st December, 1965, was £592, 554,—of which £469,118 related to the period 1st April, 1949, to 31st December, 1965.
The total expenditure from 1st April, 1943, to 31st December, 1965, on reconstruction and improvements to the abattoir amounted to £65,290. Of this sum, £35,678 related to reconstruction and improvement of buildings, £26,905 to new and replacement plant and £2,707 to new equipment.
I find it amazing that the Parliamentary Secretary can furnish the figures for expenditure from 1943 to 1949 but cannot give the income. Is it the purpose to distort the whole answer?
