Vol. 220 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Council Cottage Roads.

14.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is prepared to make grants available to local authorities for the taking over of roads leading to council cottages.

I am not clear as to the particular class of road which the Deputy has in mind. The cost of roads provided by housing authorities as part of their housing schemes is assisted from State funds as part of the subsidisable capital cost. As regards county council cottages located in "accommodation" roads not maintainable by the road authorities, there are no grants available from my Department for taking over such roads.
