Vol. 220 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Co-operative Bank.

7.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is yet in a position to give a reply to the application of the Co-operative Development Society to set up an Irish co-operative bank; and whether it is intended to consult other Irish banks on the matter.

Application for a banker's licence should be addressed to the Revenue Commissioners. The Society to which the Deputy refers has not applied either to the Revenue Commissioners or to my Department. The only inquiry I received from the Society on the subject related to the amount to be deposited in the High Court and I had a reply sent to this on 24 January, 1966.
