Vol. 220 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Borris (Carlow) Houses.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government the reason for the delay in the erection of county council houses on the site of the former CIE station at Borris, County Carlow.

There has been no undue delay in dealing with this proposal so far as my Department is concerned. Revised plans were submitted on 26th November last. These plans were the subject of discussion between an inspector of my Department and the council's technical advisers early in December. The submission by the council of revised plans is awaited.

Could the Minister say when the original plans were submitted?

I do not seem to have that information to hand here. I have a whole lot of figures but that one does not catch my eye.

The original plans were submitted in November, 1964. I would like to know what was going on from that time until November, 1965.

The first thing I have here is that on 26th November, 1964, the council requested the Minister's approval to the purchase for the sum of so many hundreds of the station-house and yard for housing purposes. I do not think that is quite the matter the Deputy was asking me in relation to when plans were first submitted.

When were the plans submitted?

I do not know. If the Deputy puts down another question, I will give him the information next week. They were only seeking permission to buy the stationyard and premises at that time.

Eighteen months is a long delay.

They sought my approval to buy this property at that time.

Plans were sent to the Department earlier in the year.

It could be. Another question will give you that information next week.
