66.

(Cavan) asked the Taoiseach the average weekly earnings of persons engaged in (a) non-agricultural employment and (b) agricultural employment on 1st January or other convenient date in every year from 1950 to the latest available date.

Specific detailed information regarding weekly earnings in the non-agricultural sector is collected only for wage-earners employed by concerns included in the Census of Industrial Production (up-todate information being available, from the quarterly industrial inquiries, for industries producing transportable goods) and for persons engaged in certain transport activities. The average weekly earnings of wage-earners in transportable goods industries and the average minimum weekly agricultural wage rates are shown in the following table for each year since 1950:
