Vol. 221 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Personal Injuries Actions.

40.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will state, for each of the years 1955 to 1965 inclusive, the number of High Court actions in which damage for personal injuries resulting from negligence were claimed indicating for each year (a) the number settled before the trial took place, (b) the number in which a direction was given at the end of the plaintiff's case and (c) the number in which the plaintiff was not awarded damages.

The available statistics do not contain the particulars which would enable me to supply the information sought by the Deputy.

I should like to give someone an opportunity on the other side to ask these questions, if they so desire, on behalf of Deputy Lindsay who is not in the House.

I ask the question.
