Vol. 221 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grants to Rural Organisations.

39.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state in respect of 1964-65 and 1965-66 and if he will give estimates for 1966-67, for each of the rural organisations which are given a grant-in-aid by his Department and the Farm Apprenticeship Board, the primary grant-in-aid and any supplementary grants payable, and the qualifying conditions for these grants.

The information requested is in the form of a tabular statement which I propose, with your permission and with a great deal of relief, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.

The Farm Apprenticeship Board is not in receipt of a grant-in-aid from my Department, but the cost of operating the Farm Apprenticeship Scheme will largely fall to be borne by my Department.

Following is the statement:

I do not wish to cause the Minister any embarrassment but does he know whether the tabular statement sets out whether the conditions laid down are being carried out?

In regard to what?

Farm apprenticeships.

I am not quite clear as to what the Deputy wants. No grant is included for the Board.

I should like to give Deputy Dillon an opportunity, if he wishes, of asking question No. 40 as Deputy Lindsay is not in the House.

I will ask it on behalf of Deputy Lindsay.
