Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Wage Increase.

(South Tipperary) asked the Taoiseach the estimated annual cost of the 12 per cent wage increase to employees in semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in receipt of £2,000 or more per year at the time of the award.

The answer is nil.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for External Affairs the estimated annual cost of the 12 per cent wage increase to employees in semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in receipt of £2,000 or more per year at the time of the award.

No such costs are involved in so far as my Department is concerned.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Transport and Power the estimated annual cost of the 12 per cent wage increase to employees in semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in receipt of £2,000 or more per year at the time of the award.

There is no information available in my Department about this matter. I have, however, asked the semi-State bodies concerned for the information and on the basis of the replies furnished by them the estimated annual cost amounts to about £90,000.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance the estimated annual cost of the 12 per cent wage increase to employees in semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in receipt of £2,000 or more per year at the time of the award.

The annual cost of applying the 12 per cent national wage agreement to employees in semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department in receipt of £2,000 a year or more at the time of the agreement was about £15,000.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Finance the estimated annual cost to State funds, both central and local government, of the implementation of the 12 per cent national wage agreement to their employees whose salaries amounted to £2,000 per year or over at the time the increases were paid.

The annual cost to the Exchequer of applying the 12 per cent national wage agreement to State and local authority employees whose salaries amounted to £2,000 a year or over at the time of the agreement was about £180,000.
