Vol. 222 No. 10

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Road.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance if he has received a rural improvement scheme application to have a road at Garryhinch, Portarlington, County Offaly tarred and surfaced from the mill bridge to the harbour at Garryhinch in the electoral district of Hammerlane; if an estimate of cost has been made; if so, how much must be contributed by the users of this road; and when the work will commence, as the county engineer has not been notified to date to deal with it.

An application has been received for the repair of the road referred to. The estimated cost of repairing and tarring the road is £497. The contribution required is £75 of which half is to be paid by the local beneficiaries and half by Bord na Móna. A formal offer of a State grant of £422 is being issued to the applicants' representative on this basis. When the local contribution has been received, the country engineer will be authorised to carry out the work.
