asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the need for pedestrian crossings on the main Dublin-Williamstown-Blackrock road and on the Dublin-Stillorgan-Shankill road; and if he will consider conducting an investigation into the provision of such additional crossings as are necessary on the main thoroughfares.

The provision of pedestrian crossings is a matter for the local authority concerned, acting at the request of, or with the consent of the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána. I understand that consideration is being given to the desirability of providing additional pedestrian crossings on these routes. A copy of the Deputy's question is being sent to the Commissioner and the relevant local authorities.
