Vol. 222 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Limerick Fish Weirs.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of fish which passed through Thomond weir in the past month; and how many of them had to be destroyed.

I am informed that 206 salmon passed through Thomond weir in the past month and that 40 of these were destroyed.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the number of fish which passed through the weir at Ardnacrusha power station in the past month; and how many of these had to be destroyed.

I am informed that 89 salmon passed through Ardnacrusha fish-pass in the past month and that eight of these were destroyed.

In view of the destruction of these salmon, will the Minister consider the renewal of the anglers' licences? The anglers' associations have paid large licence fees and with the destruction of these fish, surely the Minister should extend the licence period?

Sin ceist eile.
