Vol. 223 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Salthill (Galway) Garda Patrol.

42.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will provide an extra Garda patrol car for Salthill, Galway during the Months of July and August.

I have been assured by the Commissioner that the arrangements for policing Salthill during the summer months are adequate.

The strength of the force in Salthill is raised from seven to 14 during the summer months. Apart from a motor cycle which is permanently allocated to Salthill, the three official cars and the three motor cycles in Galway city, of which Salthill is a suburb, are available for duty in Salthill as required.

In view of the fact that the people of Salthill would not agree with the Commissioner's views on this matter, would the Minister look into the matter further?

I shall look into it further. Some people in Salthill might not want the extra patrol car.
