Vol. 223 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing of Prison Staff.

43.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of houses attached to each prison in the country, giving the number unoccupied and the reason why they are not tenanted by prison staff who require accommodation.

The total number of married quarters in the prisons service is 102: 64 in Dublin, 36 in Portlaoise and two in Limerick.

There are six vacant prison cottages in Dublin which have been under reconstruction and renovation and they are now ready for re-occupation. They have all now been allocated.

Prior to the putting down of the Deputy's question.

——after the question had been tabled? It was not the Minister's fault. As soon as he knew the position, he moved.

(Interruptions.)

The remaining questions will appear on tomorrow's Order Paper.
