Vol. 224 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballymun Flats.

12.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether he was consulted regarding the proposed building of a number of multi-storey blocks of flats at Ballymun, Dublin, which is situated on the perimeter of Dublin Airport; and whether he is satisfied that these flats are safe dwellings.

Consultations took place between my Department and the Department of Local Government regarding the height of the buildings proposed to be erected at Ballymun. The height of the buildings will be in accordance with recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation relating to the height of objects in the vicinity of airports. For this reason and because of the siting of the blocks in relation to the Airport approaches, I am satisfied that they will not constitute a hazard to air navigation.
