Vol. 224 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Complaints by Tourists.

13.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will outline the principal complaints received from tourists this year; and whether there are any plans to have these complaints rectified before the 1967 tourist season commences.

The principal complaints received from tourists refer to dissatisfaction with accommodation, price levels, the quality of food, uncleanliness and the presence of litter, standards of service, the inadequacy of public toilets throughout the country, failure to forward goods ordered and paid for and failure to reply to correspondence. Where appropriate Bord Fáilte remedied matters through direct intervention, and in other cases the shortcomings complained of were brought by Bord Fáilte to the notice of the proper authority or individual. Every effort is being made to have causes for complaints by visitors reduced in the year ahead. Bord Fáilte also received several hundred letters of commendation.

Would the Minister for Transport and Power ask Deputy Molloy if he will take steps to prevent overcharging by some of his good supporters in Salthill?
