Vol. 224 No. 3

Ceisteanna — Questions Oral Answers. - Secondary School Rules and Programme.

30.

Mr. Barrett

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that the Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools for the school year 1966-67 made by him, which contain all regulations, courses and textbooks to be used by the students preparing for the Intermediate and Leaving Certificate Examinations in 1967, are not yet available in the city of Cork; if he will indicate the reason for the delay; and the date upon which the publications will be available to the public in Cork.

The edition of the Rules and Programme for Secondary Schools for the school-year 1966-67 is with the printers at present and will, I expect, be on sale within the next few weeks. Publication was delayed this year as revisions of rules were under consideration.

The textbooks prescribed for the 1967 Certificate Examinations were already indicated in footnotes in the edition of the booklet for the previous year and any revisions of courses or rules have been communicated to schools in the ordinary way through official circulars. In addition, a special circular was issued to schools in July last notifying them of the texts prescribed for the 1968 examinations.
