Vol. 224 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports of Pollard.

12.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the method by which imports of pollard are regulated.

Imports of pollard are controlled by way of licences issued by me under the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Acts. There is at present no quantitative restriction on such imports.

Can the Minister say why, in fact, there is no quantitative restriction on what is generally regarded as an inferior quality feeding-stuff and poor value by comparison with other feedingstuffs that can be bought for the same price?

It is a question of balance.

It is a question of imbalance. That is why I brought up the matter.
