Vol. 224 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Night Vocational Classes.

13.

asked the Minister for Education if he is aware of the need and demand for night vocational classes in Ballyfermot, Dublin; and, if so, if he will arrange to have these classes provided.

This is primarily a matter for the City of Dublin Vocational Education Committee and I am asking the committee to give consideration to it as soon as possible.

This is an area where there are approximately 40,000 working-class people. Ballyfermot has been in existence for as long as 15 years. In the past year, a vocational school was built there. It is deplorable that night classes are not available. Would the Minister make very strong representations to the vocational education committee in the city because there is a very heavy demand there?

Thanks very much for the Deputy's help.
