Vol. 224 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cattle Shipment to Germany.

27.

andMr. T. O'Donnell asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if duty is payable on the consignment of 2,000 cattle to Germany announced last week; and, if so, how much that duty is.

The 2,000 cattle, or an equivalent quantity of beef, are to be purchased here during the off-the-grass season 1966, which ends on 30th November, for delivery to Germany within the framework of the Interzonal Arrangement between the Federal Republic of Germany and East Germany. No duty is payable on these cattle.

Could the Minister give a date for the delivery of the cattle?

Even an approximate date?

The only thing I can tell the Deputy is that it will be during this off-the-grass season.
