Vol. 224 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannon Airport as Refuelling Stop.

4.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether any concrete proposals have as yet been received for utilising Shannon Airport as a refuelling stop in any proposed new air services between Eastern Europe and the American Continent; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

No specific proposals of this kind have been received in my Department. As the majority of countries including Ireland have subscribed to the International Air Services Transit Agreement under which their airlines have the right to land for non-traffic purposes in the airports of participating countries, no prior permission for use of Shannon as a refuelling stop would be required in most cases.
