Vol. 224 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hotel Charges.

5.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power how the table d'hôte and bedroom charges in A (star), Grade A and Grade B hotels operating in the Republic compare with those in similar type hotels in the Six Counties, England, Scotland and Wales.

I am informed by Bord Fáilte that because of a number of varying factors, including size, type, location and markets served, it is very difficult to make a valid comparison between hotel charges in this country and those elsewhere. As regards the table d'hôte and bedroom accommodation charges in the categories of hotels to which the Deputy's question relates the Board have advised me that the indications are that such charges compare favourably with those in the Six Counties, England, Scotland and Wales.
