asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of non-contributory old age pensioners (i) at the time of the introduction of contributory old age pensions and (ii) now.

The figures are: (i) 161,240 (ii) 111,868.

Could the Minister tell us what this represents as a percentage payment to recipients? The Minister stated last week that 5.9 per cent——
