Vol. 225 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

27.

asked the Minister for Local Government if the tender, now in his Department nearly 12 months, for the Castlelyons-Conna, County Cork, regional water scheme is yet sanctioned; and, if not, when he expects it will be.

Tenders for this scheme are still under consideration in my Department. I am not yet in a position to say when sanction to the proposals is likely to issue.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he expects to be in a position to sanction the extension to a water supply scheme for Nangor Road, Clondalkin, County Dublin.

No proposals for this scheme have yet been submitted to my Department.

Is the Minister aware that repeatedly I have been told in the county council that they are awaiting sanction of the Department of Local Government to this scheme?

I can only say what I have got here and that is that no proposals have been submitted.

I want to assure the Minister that I have that in writing from the council.

Perhaps the Deputy would send me that? This is my information and I rely on it.

That man has greater things on his mind at the moment.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the provision of a sewerage scheme at Ballingarry, County Tipperary.

Revised preliminary proposals for Ballingarry sewerage scheme are at present under consideration in my Department.

Is the Minister aware of the urgency to proceed with this scheme, that the lack of sanitary facilities in this rather populous town constitutes a threat to the health of the people in the area and would he not, in the circumstances, expedite approval of the scheme as a matter of great urgency?

As I have an arrangement to meet the South Tipperary Deputies next Tuesday on all matters of this nature, I would suggest that it might be left until then.

Very good.
