Vol. 225 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Installing of Telephones.

109.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the average waiting period for telephone installation over the past three years in (a) urban areas and (b) rural areas.

The average waiting period for telephone installation over the past three years has been about ten months. The waiting period in urban areas is approximately the same as in rural areas.

Would the Minister not agree that is a rather short time? I know people who have been waiting for three years.

The question asked for the average.

Even if the Minister works out the average, he will find it is a great deal more than ten months.

That is the correct average.
