Vol. 225 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Monaghan Hospital Kitchen.

43.

asked the Minister for Health the cause of the delay in the installation of the new kitchen which has been promised for St. Davnet's Hospital, Monaghan for some considerable time and which is urgently required having regard to the antiquated and unhygienic condition of the existing kitchen.

Draft working drawings for the new kitchen and associated staff dining accommodation have been approved, subject to certain amendments suggested by my Department. The mental hospital board's technical advisers are now in a position to proceed with the preparation of the final working drawings.

The provision of new boiler installations is an integral part of this scheme. Certain problems associated with the siting of the boilerhouse have been under consideration and arrangements have been made for an early meeting with the technical advisers and other officers of the board with a view to finalising these matters.
