Vol. 225 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - School Health Examinations.

44.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the percentage of pupils on the rolls of national schools examined under the school health services for each year since 1960.

The percentages are: 1960—31.0; 1961—29.2; 1962— 30.6; 1963—29.0; 1964—30.5; 1965— 25.0.

The reduction in the percentage for 1965 was due to the concerted drive made by health authorities on oral poliomyelitis vaccination, on which many of the medical and nursing staff normally engaged on school health examinations were employed.
