Vol. 225 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Secondary School Building Grants.

143.

asked the Minister for Education the secondary schools in respect of which the State has paid a contribution towards building costs and the date of first payment in each case; and when first payment will be made to the other schools whose schemes have been approved.

Initial payment of grant was made in respect of the building projects of two secondary schools, Meánscoil Sheosaimh Naofa (Convent of Mercy) Gort, and Benildus College, Kilmacud Road, Dublin, on 30th September, 1966 and 20th October, 1966, respectively.

First payment of grant arises when repayment of the loan to the bank falls due. The payment is made subject to the site title having been established and an architect's certificate received with regard to work completed to date.

It is anticipated that this stage will be reached in the near future in a number of the cases in which approval for building has been given and in which the work is already advanced.
