Vol. 225 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water Supply Schemes.

16.

(South Tipperary) asked the Minister for Local Government when loan sanction for £220,000 for the Knockgraffon Infill area of the Galtee regional water scheme was sought by Tipperary South Riding County Council; and if sanction is likely to be shortly forthcoming so that this important work may begin.

Tipperary South Riding County Council submitted a loan application for the scheme referred to by the Deputy to my Department on 31st December, 1965. I am not in a position to say when a decision will be given.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the extension of the regional water supply in Achill Island, County Mayo.

There has been no change in the position regarding the extension of the regional water supply in Achill Island as set out in reply to Question No. 10 on 28th September last.

Is it that the Minister cannot sanction the loan because the money is not available?

Does the Deputy want the information Deputy Lindsay has sought or is it new information the Deputy seeks?

Might I remind the Minister that I had a question down some time ago about this and I got the same kind of evasive answer? Is the Minister prepared to tell the truth about it?

I am giving the answer to the question put down by Deputy Lindsay, the same as I gave Deputy O'Hara an answer when he put down a question.

We shall work it out all right.

It is not too hard to do so.

18.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position in regard to the group water supply scheme at Rigsdale, Ballinhassig, County Cork.

The proposed source of supply for this scheme has proved inadequate to meet the needs of the group. The cash contributions collected by the participants appear to be insufficient to meet the net expenditure arising after the deduction of State and local authority grants. It is proposed to call a meeting of the group early in December to seek a solution of these difficulties.
