Vol. 225 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Surfacing of Waste Ground.

38.

Mr. O'Leary

asked the Minister for Local Government why open waste ground adjacent to municipal flat schemes is not adequately surfaced so as to avoid damage to corporation property and injuries to tenants' children.

I understand from Dublin Corporation that open spaces provided in their schemes of flats are kept under regular observation to ensure that they are in a safe and good sanitary condition, that they have started work on a general programme of development of such spaces, and that they have no evidence to suggest that the present condition of any of these spaces has led to any damage to corporation property or injury to tenants' children, other than of a minor nature.

Mr. O'Leary

It does not follow then that if I can discover an open space adjoining a municipal scheme, the corporation will take action in the matter?
